In association with The Cancer Council Victoria, Brumby's
Babes was formed in 2001 by a group of Melbourne women to
become a Relay For Life Team. Relay For Life is the world's
largest fundraising event for cancer. It is open to anybody
in the community who can form a team of ten or more and who
can walk or run relay style over a 24 hour period.
| In 2004, successful endeavors of the
Brumby's Babes Team gained a new focus, with an
agreement that funds raised would be directed towards a
cancer research grant. This project was lead by
researcher Dr Ricky Johnstone based at Melbourne's Peter
MacCallum Cancer Centre until year end 2008. Since
2009, our funds have been directed towards a research
grant involving the Monash University. The focus of the
research is into
the causes of leukaemia and lymphoma in adults. |
